Genius. very clever.
siminoff:

Dave Gerzof, PhoneTag’s CMO, sent me this today.  As funny as it is, it is actually tells the story of what has happened so far in a very clear way.

I'm glad the bailout did not get approved...

…if even for the wrong reasons.

I will applaud the first politician that has the balls to say to say the crisis was caused by too much government intervention, and that the solution should be less regulation and government interference.

Nice CNN article today: Bankruptcy, not bailout, is the right answer

From: Henry Paulson

Subject: Supper secret transaction Need you’re help

Bright Greetings Dear American:

I need to ask you to support an urgent secret business relationship with a transfer of funds of great magnitude.

I am Ministry of Treasury of the Republic of America. My country has had a crisis that has caused the need for a large transfer of funds of 700 billion dollars US. If you would assist me in this transfer, it would be most profitable to you.

I am working with renowned Mr. Phil Gram, lobbyist for UBS, who will be my replacement as Ministry of Treasury in January. As a Senator, you may know him as the leader of the American banking deregulation movement in the 1990s. This transactin is 100% safe.

This is a matter of great urgency. We need a blank check. We need the funds as quickly as possible. We cannot directly transfer these funds in the names of our close friends because we are constantly under surveillance. My family lawyer advised me that I should look for reliable and trustworthy person who will act as a next of kin so the funds can be transferred.

Please reply with all of your bank account, IRA and college fund account numbers and those of your children and grandchildren to wallstreetbailout@treasury.gov so that we transfer your commission for this transaction. After I receive you’re information, I will respond with detailed information about safeguards that will be used to protect the funds.

Wonderful salutations to you cherish friend from Republic of America.

Yours Faithfully Minister of Treasury Paulson

Fantastic chart in today’s New York Times Week in Review Section with data from Robert Shiller.  Shows clearly how Fed policy after the implosion of the dotcom bubble enabled the real estate bubble.  Now we are likely to overshoot the long term average on the downside.
I find all of the comparisons to the great depression era and now fascinating…

Regarless of views. What an excellent use of imagery.

The old rancher said, “Well, ya know, Palin is a ‘Post Turtle.’”Not being familiar with the term, the doctor asked him what a post turtle was.The old rancher said, “When you’re driving down a country road you come across a fence post with a turtle balanced on top, that’s a ‘post turtle.’”The old rancher saw the puzzled look on the doctor’s face so he continued to explain. “You know she didn’t get up there by herself, she doesn’t belong up there, and she doesn’t know what to do while she’s up there, and you just wonder what kind of dummy put her up there to begin with.”
